Aya & Tony's wedding near Wigan

Aya and Tony flew in from Japan to be married at Tony's family home near Wigan. This was one of those occasions where I didn't meet the bride and groom prior to the day, but as everything had been left in the very capable hands of my favourite event organiser Juliet Cowper, I didn't have to worry.

As with all of Juliet's weddings, the attention to detail was sublime and the marquee that she designed was amazing. Inside the marquee you wouldn't have thought that we were in a quiet suburban street in Lancashire.

"These photographs are just sensational - been thru them over and over again." Tony.

These are my personal favourites from the day.

For the many photographers that follow this blog - I used a Canon 1DsMK3 for all the daytime images, and a Canon 5DMKII for the evening. Everything was processed in Apple Aperture 2 with toning, sharpening and edges applied in Photoshop.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lou & Rob's wedding at Thornton manor

Lou and Rob had a beautiful and intimate wedding at Thornton Manor on the Wirral. The couple were simply amazing to work for - Lou is such a lovely person, and Rob is another wedding photographer (so he can't be all bad!!)

When I get to shoot a wedding such as this, I am constantly reminded of the warmth and generosity that prevails in the North West of England - the people are unlike any other that I've come across in my career. This warmth is often reflected in the pictures, and I feel privileged to be able to shoot weddings for people up here.

On seeing the pictures, Lou sent me a lovely email;

"Thank you so much for our wedding photos they are magical, you captured our day perfectly, we love them! Each shot brings a memory flooding back that until seeing the picture, alarmingly had already been forgotten! We've looked at them several times already and they get better with each viewing and we see new things in the pictures we missed on previous viewings."

Phew - it is always a little nerve racking when you shoot another photographer's wedding :)

Here are some of my favourites from the day. For the photographers - my Canon 1DsMKIII's got a really good workout (the first in 10 months) as I believe it is beneficial to keep the camera's mechanics and lubricants ticking over. I had actually forgotten how amazing the files are from those cameras; they have a slightly different quality to my usual 5DMKII's. The images were processed (including the b/w conversions) in Apple's Aperture 2; the sloppy borders, toning, sharpening and resizing were completed in Photoshop.

emma and will's wedding in Lytham st annes

This wedding was a real treat for me. My clients, Emma and Will, are two of the most delightful people I have ever met. Their wedding took place in St Annes on Sea, which is about 3 miles from where I live further down the coast in Lytham. The reception was held at the fantastic Grand Hotel, situated on the inner promenade at St Annes.

Being near the coast on an August Bank Holiday weekend the forecast was inevitably for rain - but apart from a really strong onshore wind, the weather was kind to us. Emma looked amazing, and the whole wedding party really knew how to enjoy themselves.

Emma sent me a lovely email from America after seeing her pictures online;

"The pictures are absolutely AMAZING...we are so delighted and can't thank you enough. Thanks for being such a superstar on the day and making us all feel relaxed ... and of course helping us all to look so beautiful!!! We had so much fun; it was the perfect day and you have totally captured the warm and happy atmosphere. We love how you have used the light, the colours and people's emotions... just fantastic!!!"
